Viego Q Redesign
Back to the league redesigns! I can’t help myself! For this redesign, I wanted to challenge myself and make something ghostly. I haven’t attempted anything of the sort before, combining that with a rough and tough sword sound, I thought would be exciting to make!
To create these sounds, there was a lot of generic reverse reverbs, long reverbs and detuned synths with loads of effects on them. I used a lot of Valhalla Shimmer, and Fabfilter Reverb on this one. These are my usual go-to’s anyways, but they were real work horses on this one.
The issue I faced with this redesign is, reversed reverbs sound great! But they are thin. So how to I create something that is ghostly, yet stands out? The answer is disappointing if you’re reading this. The answer is experimentation. My solution was to make synth sounds that were a great source, then add everything and the kitchen sink to it. Then finally once i had about 10 layers, I ran it all though Whoosh. and ended up with things like:
Then metal side of things was easy, but I feel like its the part that is lacking. I recorded my machetes (like 10 dollars each at the hardware store) against one another, rubbing and smacking.
That’s pretty much it for this post! Thank you again for reading!
