Dreadnova Darius Redesign

This time around, it was a very unique sort of theme. If you look at the model, he has almost two jet engines on his shoulders and a jetpack on his back. So, I went for a sci-fi texture, but also an almost industrial sound to it. There was a few things that I did to accomplish the sound I was going for; synthesis and flame sounds. I think the easiest way to get good sci-fi sounds is simply just synthesis with a little bit of distortion which can be found throughout the redesign.

I created two layers to use throughout the redesign with a lot of exploration and fun, this is what I came up with (careful they might be a little loud):

To build these, I used the same methods that I went about the Bel’Veth redesign as well. Which had been my go-to way of coming up with source material. This basically consists of a lot of abusing the audio, than getting unexpected material by using RX Denoise, Declip, ext. And using a ridiculous amount of filters, distortions, flangers, convolution reverb and anything else I can get my hands on. Just experimenting with very long chains has been my go-to way of doing things lately. thought one very important thing i’ve learned from a good friend of mine, is to start with a synth patch, and play the sounds on your keyboard, it adds the expressiveness to the sound, the movement I was always looking for.
